2 SDS (Safety Data Sheet)
The SDS (formerly known as MSDS) is a legal safety document compiled in accordance with the GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals). It follows a fixed 16-section structure globally. Its core function is to fully disclose the chemical’s hazard characteristics, handling procedures, emergency measures, and transportation regulations.

Myth 3: Non-hazardous chemicals do not need an SDS.
Fact: Incorrect. Whether hazardous or not, chemical/biochemical/food raw materials generally require an SDS for export customs clearance and domestic hazardous warehousing filing. Only hazardous chemicals require an additional dangerous goods declaration, but compliant SDS files are also required for non-hazardous products.
Myth4: MSDS and SDS are two different documents.
Fact: Same source, same substance. MSDS is the old term; SDS is the new standard under GHS. The content framework and legal effect are identical. For official compliance, use the standard SDS format.
Myth 5: COA is a mandatory legal document for all products.
Fact: Depends on the industry. General chemicals have no mandatory filing requirement (it’s a commercial acceptance file). However, for Pharma, Food, Feed, and Cosmetic raw materials, it is a statutory necessity for market circulation.
